Update 6-12-11

Our team (or partial team) scrimmaged against one of the teams that we will play next weekend in our league playoffs. Also there, was 1 player from another team. This guy was pretty good but very beatable. He came across as a jerk to me. He was rushing everything. He partnered up with a good player of the host team and played against myself and the captain of our team. We played 2 sets with them and the first set was close, the 2nd set was not so close. We played to more sets with the exception of the captain of the other team joined the jerk against myself and my captain. We played better and won bot sets. I had some good shots. I noticed that when I would win some points, the jerk on the other side would aim right at my head on returns. I have pretty good reflexes and was able to get the ball in play.

What I noticed about this guy is that he is vulnerable. When playing this type of player, one needs to be consistent and keep it in play an frustrate the opponent. Moving him around and make him hit shots will make him make lots of mistakes - in turn, it will frustrate him and that is how you can get into his head. Your confidence will build while his will decline. At the end of the match, he probably won't shake you hand, but that is ok. I enjoy beating people like that - they don't deserve to win.

Again, keep the ball in play, let him make the mistakes and eventually the match is yours.
